hooking up rear defrost, relays?

bought a car with a rear defrost hatch, but no rear defrost. my question is: is the defrost on a relay, or is it just 12 volts 30amp out ofa switch
the ground on passenger side is already hooked up
thanks

The factory defogger switch is electronic & incorporates a delay circuit to limit the on time of the defroster grid. If you wanted to hook it up to a switch, I'd use the switch to control a 30 ampere relay. Get the relay contact power from the 30 ampere PWR ACC circuit breaker & get the relay coil power from the 10 ampere gauges fuse.
