alternator pigtail...where do they go?

The red one connects to the other red wire off the alternator post, a few feet back in the slip stream. They both then 'T' off to starter solenoid, and driver side electral juction. I 'think' it provides the 12v for the starter switch.
The black one goes to the dummy light in your dash. If passes through the driver side juction as well.

suprises many people that the alternator charge bulb on the dash must be connected to the alternator for it to charge. a difficult to diagnose no charge condition on some older general motors produccts would occur if the charge warning bulb burnt out, newer vehicles have a resistor in parallel with the bulb to help prevent this problem.
