i am looking to drop a TPI 305 from a 87 iroc, to replace the carburated motor in my 86 Z-28,The motor switch should be simple, but do i have to switch the wiring harness with the tpi motor to? Is that enough of a pain to have some one do it, or is it simple for a home mechanic to do??Also is there anything else electrical i will have to purchase to do the motor swap??
thanx..

Yes, you need to swap the engine harness for TPI. Remember it has injectors with wires going to them? Anyway, I doubt you will find someone to do it for you that really understands what he/she is getting into, so do it yourself. Also get the factory wiring diagram, I guarentee you will need it, I did.

There's also a whole lot of changes to be made besides the wiring and we havn't even touched on that. Don't forget about the fuel pump, fuel lines, computer, instrament panel wiring harness, fuse panel(more fuses), distrubitor and VATS system to name a few off of the top of my head.

Let me know if you would like the mod required to the instrument panel and fuse panel wiring harness. I made a drawing of the required changes.
I didn't worry about VATS because I used a 1986 engine harness.
