What is all involved with putting newer gauges in a 1984 ta. What year did the electiric speedo appear. I want ot get a set with the 140 speedo but what year will work? What else needs to be achanged. I know the gas and oil presure gauges are swapped. What will fix this problem? Thanks for any help. Kevin

It will involve a major rewire job. Your best bet is to get a cluster from the junkyard WITH both connectors, and get a wiring diagram so you can see the pinouts. Any gauge that was an "idiot" light that you would now have an actual "gauge" for will require a new sending unit (idiot light senders are "on/off" switches, while gauge sending units are potentiometers (variable resistor)

As for the electric speedo, I think they were introduced in '86. You will need a speed sensor buffer w/ connector (I have one for sale) to hook up. Mine for sale is setup for cruise consrol, but you don't have to use it if you don't. You will also need to replace your mechanical gear in the transmission for a VSS. I will check back often to see if you have any more questions.
