windows won't work at all?????

i just bought a 91 rs convertible from auction, and neither window will work at all. what could be the problem with them? i was told by the guy that he tried them once, and they did work at first, then just failed.

The window motors are powered through the 30 ampere WDO circuit breaker, located in the fuse panel, under the dash.

If you suspect that the circuit breaker has gone bad, you can just put a fuse in there temporarily.

i compared my 91 with the windows not working to my 89 which do, and noticed there are different wires on the 91. looks like the previous owner had his security system hooked up to the window switches some how and for what, i don't know, but when he ripped out his system, no power is getting to them. how could i get them to work again?

Yes, the car could have been wired so that the windows would roll up when the alarm is armed...or you can even put the windows down by remote.

They probably would have cut some of the wires in the center console, and wired in some relays or a special window control module. Just take the stuff out and hook the wires back up the way your other car is.
