That darn yellow wire....
i hooked up my new stereo a little while ago, only to find that it wouldn't even turn on...well after a little trial and error i discovered that there is no current in the yellow wire that connects to the stereo....
if i connect the yellow wire directly to the battery the stereo works fine,
so my guess is the fuse somewhere for that wire is shorted, but where is the fuse...
or what else can be wrong?
thanks

Hmmm... Are you turning the key to "ON"? The yellow wire is for Memory, only has 12v when the key is in the "ON" or "ACC" positions. The fuse will be in the fuse panel, under the dash. If you snapped this fuse then your windows would not work (if power), dummy lights, etc... I dont know what else to say.
What kind of car is this, radio? Need more info.

Did you try swapping the red and yellow wires? I mean yellow from the stereo to red of the car, and red from the stereo to yellow of the car?
I'm having some serious brain farts right now.

Well your yellow wire is supposed to be a constant 12v. So there are a couple of ways to fix your problem. The easiest would be to splice into your cig. lighter ONLY IF your lighter works with the car off and key off. If your lighter wont work just find the red wire in your ignition harness and splice into that...
Silki
The wire colors on your aiwa deck WILL NOT exactly match those of the vehicle. A wire harness is always the preferred method. The constant 12v wire in the OEM harness is orange.

i think i may have shorted it out, but how do i get it back?
