Is this bad?

I was having an idling problem and my car showing around 11V at idle....

so i wired a ground wire from the negative post of the battery to the chassis and all the problems are fixed.

I was just wondering if this is a bad thing hooking up the ground straight to the chassis...

That should not be a problem at all. Did you not already have a small wire going from the negative post to the fender?
