High-beam whitch won't click

Hey all. Need a little advisory on what to do about this problem I have. Last winter, I started to have a problem where my brights switch would not "click" the brights on when you pull it back. I would have to hit it back very hard to get to switch to brights or to turn them off. It progressively got worse, until I thought that they wouldn't work anymore. Well, one day I was explaining this problem to my friend who has a '91 Z. The interors are identical, everything except for the speedo. Wel, anyways, I was talking about how they wouldn't work, but before I could explain it, he finished explaining it to me, and he has the same problem. His solution: tilt the steering wheel all the way up. I tried it later, and it worked. But this is not practical. Is there anyway to fix this? kthx.

remove the underdash panels, and remove the bolts that hold the big u-shaped bracket to the dash. with the steering column lowered, loosen the bolts that hold the high-beam switch to the column and slide the switch to a better location. while you have it apart, look for any cracks or other visible wear on the switch.
