Starter ?

Can someone tell me my options here. My car will not start, i had the starter tested and it manually turns over but the car will not start. it will not turn over if i turn the key. what can be wrong? i was told it could be the fuse link. could it be the ignition. any info would be great. thanks

P.S the alternater and battery are both good

First i would check all your connections from the battery to the starter, and make sure they have good contact. No oily connections. Then if they check out ok, I would say it is you ignition switch, seeings how you said it turns over manually.
I would also check to see if you have power to the dash when the key is turned on. If yes, I still say your ingition switch is bad.
I can't remember exactly where the switch is located. It might be
under the dash, on the steering colum.

I'm assuming when you tested the starter you also concluded that the solenoid is good as well?

your solenoid is good if you tested the starter manually and it worked. The solenoid is what makes the starter turn. The switch is either bad, or it is good. No inbetween. I believe the switch is under the dash. visit an autoparts store, and ask to see their switch, then you know what it looks like. then take the switch out and see if it is in bad shape, like gumed up inside. Usually from airborne particals. Anything electronic can attract them. Also I am not sure completely if camaros have a fuse link for the starter. If so It should be by the battery. I really don't believe they have one.

The VATS (Vehicle anti theft system) is a function of your ECM, you can turn it off with a prom burner, or you can get a bypass module..

Also you can get tricky with a resistor but Prom burning is the real way to go.

yes ecm is part of the vats system, but it's only antitheft function is to disable the fuel injectors. the factory starter kill relay is controlled by the standalone vats module.

installing a new "chip" into the ecm will get fuel flowing, but the starter still won't crank when the ignition key is turned to the start position.
