Static Electricity

Don't know if this is the right message board for this post, but since it deals with electricity here goes. I have an 85 IROC, no power anything. I do however, have an UNGO Box TL 4000 alarm installed under the drivers seat and an alpine amplifier under the passenger seat. Lately, when I get out of my car and shut the door I get a shock. I really don't know where to start as far as looking for a problem. Or is there a problem? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
Clewis

Sounds like static electricity. I don't know of anything you can do except before you get out of the car, grap something metal and step out. That is what I have to do every time I get out. I also have a little keychain thing that looks like a hand with a wrist watch on it. Instead of a watch, it is a light and it will light up if you are going to get zapped. I got it from Japan for like $10 and I love it/ I absolutely HATE getting shocked. I'll even get juiced in the middle of summer for some reason. I'm quite paranoid about it too...

I get the same thing. everyonce in a while ill get shocked. Sometimes its consistent and other times its not. Kinda funny actually. Specially when it happens to passengers and u see they do a lil jump when they get out and they try to act like nothing happened. But u know

But if anyone does find a reason lemme know! I wouldnt think its anything bad. Jus the carpet or something

Static electricity build up is more of an issue in dry conditions, as the charge does not have a path (moisture) to bleed off through to ground. If the "static" charge builds up, it may bleed off in the form of a discharge through your body (a shock) to ground.
