I've been bad, so now I need to ground myself...but how?

Just bought a reman computer for the IROC and I'd like to put it in w/o destroying it with static elec. I guess I just don't understand the concept of grounding as well as I'd thought. With the battery disconnected, is the car chassis still and adequate source for grounding? Or do I need to wire myself to the battery itself? Thanks for help in advance.

I'm an electronics tech for the navy and i've discussed this with a few co workers. We have come to the conclusion that as long as your not changing circuit cards out of the sealed computer, grounding yourself out to the chasis should be fine. ESD (electro static discharge) shouldn't be a factor as long as your holding the outer casing and not touching the pins in the connector. Thats our two cents worth. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, the computer is in and everything is A-ok. Wolf, I graduate in May and I'm actually considering going into officer training for the Navy. I'm not sure what all that would entail, but I figure if I can pay off some govt debt and put some service on my resume w/o taking too many pins in the chest or ****'s in the bum, why not?
