changing odometer
I have an electronic cluster that i want to replace mine with. Unfortunitly it has 45K more miles than my original one. Is it possible to change it? They are both the 89 120 mph type.
Thanks
Thanks
If by electronic cluster you mean the digital cluster, then you can retian your mileage by swapping the memory chip that stores the mileage when you turn the car off. Not sure where in the cluster it is locted tho.
But you mention 120mph speedo, that leads me to think its a normal cluster with a dial odometer, in which case you really cant do anything without taking the whole cluster apart and trying to adjust the mileage on the new cluster to your old mileage.
When i swapped clusters, I just took pictures of both clusters for verification purposes, and put in the new cluster with 140k on it (had 80k on the old speedo). Of course, most of the major mechanical parts on my car arent original anyway, so mileage isnt a great indicator of conidtion.

Thanks for the help. It was an "electronic" mechanical cluster. I figured out how to adjust it (it would take awhile to do) But i really wanted the tach and when i took everything apart i found out that the tach was for a 6 cyl.. oh well.
