lights near the shifter

Once upon a time the red lights that show if your in drive/park/overdrive/reverse worked but now they don't. Its not such a bad thing but sometimes at night I'll be in D instead of OD cause I pull back too far. Anyway, how do you fix the little light in there? i guess i have to rip it apart to get in there, is it a bulb/fuse?

since you said red lights I'll assume you have a bird or T/A. All you have to do is take the center console shifter plate off. Look under the console lid and the ashtray for screws--it's been awhile but I think there's 4 screws total. If it's an auto take the little clip out from the shifter handle-pop off the handle and then remove the plate. It's a bulb--a small skinny type--forgot the #--might be a 191.

Yep sounds like ur bulb is no good. Untighten the screws and look for the bulb. If you have a voltage tester turn on ur lights and see if there is any voltage. If there is your bulb is probably shot. Check the filament, that could help too.
