Electronics Need help wiring something up? Thinking of adding an electrical component to your car? Need help troubleshooting that wiring glitch?

My parking lights wont turn off!!!

My parking lights wont turn off!!!

ever since i had the new motor put in my car as soon as i turn the key on my car the parking lights come on even if the switch isent on and they stay on until the car is off and the key is off, why would it do this Please help! Thanks -Don

headlight switch or relay(s)? or a ground to low i think itwas called in tech school.

Sounds a little like the brown wire that powers all the front & back marker lights got hooked up to a +12v ignition-on wire under the hood somehow. There is a brown wire on the (looking from the front) left of the bulkhead connector (parking lights & unfortunatly, a brown wire on the right side, I can't say what this goes to but, it's hooked into the alternator on the 88 tpi harness I'm putting on my friends 72 truck. I've found no diagram showing what this wire is (even a 91 firebird manual at a dealership), but, I guess this is the +12v signal from the regulator to the voltage gauge, I haven't quite got that far splicing wires just yet...

if the car ever had an aftermarket alarm system installed, double check any connections into the vehicles harness. some installers have been known to twist the wires together without using any solder. scotchlocks and other crimp on connectors can cause problems too.
