Power antenna help

The antenna on my 91 GTA is busted. It was like that when I got it - it looks like someone just snapped it off at the bottom. I believe it's a power antenna, but the RPO decoder seems contradictory. Any, how can I tell if it just needs a new mast or a whole new assembly? Thanks

when i bought my car instead of the guy fixing the power antenna he just pulled the main fuse out, lol. Anyway i put a fuse in and the power antenna motor was just running constantly meaning that the plastic piece broke, so what i did was bought a power antenna that worked for 20 bucks jacked the car up, pulled the wheel off, and took the plastic liner on the wheel well. after that u will be able to see the old power antenna just unbolt it and cut the three wires aas close as possible o the old motor. just solder the new one in and bolt it up, before u finish putting the rest together make sure it works..

Did it get broken off at the base by the fender or was it broken off at the bottom of the top mast piece?
If it is just the top piece of the mast or if the plastic piece that drives it up and down is broken you can get a replacement piece from GM, it consists of the top piece of the mast with a new plastic drive cord all coiled up and ready to install.

It seems to have broken at the bottom - I haven't checked the fuse or wires to see if it's still powered, but the motor doesn't run. If it was broken at the bottom, do I need a whole new assembly, or could a mast fix it?

You'd need a whole new assembly, and they aren't cheap. Last time I priced one from GM (about 19 years ago) they were $165.
Might want to hit the junkyards and see if you can find one.

i have an 89 GTA and i actually want to rid myself of the power antenna - i'm shaving it later this summer and i'd hate for you to have to pay $165 - that's almost as bad as the replacement headlight motors
The mast is not perfectly straight, it's kinda crooked but it still goes up and down great and i'm sure you could straighten it or replace it.

if you're interested let me know, i'd let you have it for $60 plus shipping ... $100 off for condition ?
