Need help on governor toggle switch
Need help on governor toggle switch
I know this is a basic mod but after I did everything (spliced into the vss (brown a10)
and hooked it all up and grounded nothing worked on it. No SES light came up and my switch would not illuminate. Even after I disconnected the vss so it was an open circuit nothing happened. Does the vss only work at a certain speed? Need an answer quick my car is semi torn up.

What new connections / modifications did you make? A diagram would be helpful to diagnose the problem.

I cut the VSS and extended the wire from the transmission up to my switch. The other half of the wire I extended from the computer through a fast break fuse up to the second spot on my switch. Then I grounded the third spot to a metal on metal screw under the pass kick panel. Driving home with it "not working" I got the car up to 115mph where the governor shut me down. THen I hit the switch and sreamed past the 115 spot to about 125 before I slowed. So my switch works but, it doesn't light up (It's an illuminated switch) and the SES light doesn't come on when I switch it during normal driving. I'm kind of a perfectionist when It comes to my car. All I need to know is how to get the switch to illuminate and why doesn't the SES light come on under normal driving?

You can't make the switch light up, at least not the way you are using it. You could use the switch to drive a relay to cut the VSS signal, and thus have the switch light up, but thats it. Right now you don't have any power going to it. Lighted switches only work when you are switching power on something. You are switching a low power AC signal.
Aso to why the SES light isn't coming on. Well, i wouldn't expect it to come on right away. So if you were expecting to flip the switch and see the SES light, i doubt that would happen. Now if you can drive for 10 or so minutes and still no light, that'd be weird. Why would it do that? Got me.
