B&M Lockup Harness / Cruise control questions
B&M Lockup Harness / Cruise control questions
I recently had a shop swap out my computer controlled carb (dead computer) for a non-cc carb and a vacuum advance distributor. In the process they installed a B & M lockup harness for the torque converter. I no longer see (rpm-wise) or feel the converter lock in overdrive.
As I am not having any luck getting info from the shop, does anyone know where I might find a wiring diagram for the harness so that I can double check their wiring? I do know that they got in to the tranny pan while installing the kit (for what I don't know).
(As a side note, my shift points have dropped dramatically (am in 3rd by 22 mph - didn't check rpms) and my shifts are much smoother than before but I've read elsewhere it is likely due to a poorly adjusted TV cable, which I will look into.)
I have read in other posts that the harness supposedly works off a vacuum switch of some sort. The shop does have a vacuum line running to a small box (3/4" - 1" square) that they attached to the firewall and it has a green wire that comes out of it but then goes right back into the box. There are no other wires connecting to the box (read switch)
If anyone can advise I would really appreciate it.
I should note that although it seems obvious that I should take the car back to the shop, I don't care to deal with them as it took 6 weeks for them to get nowhere with the computer. They weren't bashful to bill me for 3 hrs "computer diagnostic" time but they don't have time to answer any of my questions.
One other question, pertaining to cruise control operation. My cruise worked fine up until this little swap-out. Now when I hit Set or Resume, the car just starts to accelerate with no limit in sight. I have never let it go much above the speed limit when it does this now but it gave me no reason to believe it was going to back off any time soon. When I first got the car back, I tried the cruise and after a 3-5 mph increase, it sort of held. However, it was like the cruise was trying to over control as it constantly made adjustments. After a 20-30 second period, it kicked off. Now it just wants to accelerate. Any tips?
