check engine light when I hit a bump
check engine light when I hit a bump
I just installed a air/fuel gauge and when I hit a hard bump the check engine light comes on.The car doesnt die but it acts like it does when the four wire distributor connector is unplugged. It clears right up.I tried shaking the wires with the car running in the drive way,but it wont do it.Could this be a bad ground on the new gauge? Its a 86 lg4 and it shows no codes.

Are you still running the stock ECM and carb/distrib? Sounds like maybe your knock sensor is picking up a phony frequency on a really hard bump, happens to me every now & then if I can't dodge a pothole in time. Otherwise, something's gotta be loose somewhere. If it happens again, see if you can catch the code while the light's still on and that would tell you.

I dont think the 86 lg4 has a knock sensor ,only the l69,could be wrong.I dont thik its a ecm or code problem,im losing the power to the ignition somewhere.Last night I went out and it wouldnt crank, had power but no juice to starter,i jiggled the wire going to ecm?(fused)and it started so i guess i have a short between the batt.and starter or accessory wire?
