Engine swap, LB9 to L98, any gremlins?
Engine swap, LB9 to L98, any gremlins?
Ive got a 87 z28 thats been stripped bare pretty much, but its straight. ive also got an 89 iroc thats been t boned but has all the right parts, eg drivetrain and accessories. my question is, will the L98 bee a straight wire up to the stock 305 harness? both are tpi, but i think my biggest problem is that the 350 has an ac unit from a 95 Lt-1. Any comments?

Use the 89 wire harness, computer, and accessories if you can, they're better than the 87 stuff. 87 has v-belts and a cold-start injector, while the 89 is serpentine and eliminates the CSI.
Otherwise the 87 wire harness will work except for the stuff that is different or in a different place due to the differences between an 87 car and an 89 car.

Re: Engine swap, LB9 to L98, any gremlins?
Wow! Was amazed to see this question, as I have installed an 89 T/A motor into my 87 T/A, and am having problems with various connectors...! Any additional insight here? It seems as though I don't have the correct wires for the coolant fans, A/C fan switch, wiper motor, and various relays. I'm going crazy comparing electrical drawings for the two years! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
