Where does speedo cablr connect to VSS???
Hey people,
I'm still having probs with my speedo and odometer not working. Before I was told to check to make sure the speedo cable was connected to the VSS. Today I climbed under and looked around.
I found 1 plug connecting into something (The botom of my car is sooo caked with dirt, I had to wash it for 30 mins just to find the cable) unidentifiable. The plug had 2 wires coming out of it. 1 tan 1 pink as far as I can tell.
Is this the Speedo cable? If not where does it hook up to the VSS?
If this doesn't fix the problem what else do you suggest, also about how much will a dealer take to get this repaired?
Thanks in advance for your help. I want to get this problem repaired ASAP and start enjoying my new ride.

depending on the year of car the vss should be on the front hubs, one for each wheel if you have ABS. speedometer should hook into the back of the tranny. thas all i know

Thirdgen's dont have ABS, so there are no sensors on the wheels.
What year car do you have? Cable or electronic speedo? Give us some more details on your car so we can help.

The VSS is electronic & is mounted on the transmission. The wires connect to it at the tail shaft housing (aft end of transmission). The VSS connects to a VSS buffer, which is a small box (approx 3" x 2" x 1") near the ECM. It drives the ECM and the speedometer with a 4000 pulse per mile signal, and the cruise control with a 2000 pulse per mile signal.

I thought the MAF cars use a 2000 pulse signal from the VSS? Thats what Jags That Run says...
