Bird light wireing

I was thinking of carving the bird and the word Pontiac on the back of my Firebird. Then I was going to put a light back there. How should I wire this up? I am leaning more towards having it on when the lights are on. Which wires should I tap into for this lighting?

Where are you going to carve it into?

The center piece is hollow behind it. There is a thin layer of black plastic behind the clear. First I will make a template to follow, and then carve the black plastic off behind the clear. That way the light can shine through and water not get in.

There already was a post on somebody attempting to do this. They didnt carve anything. They sanded the plastic completely until it was clear. First use a bigger grade sand paper, and work your way down to the fine sand paper. It will be cloudy at first, then will become quite clear. Then you need to get decals of your choice and lay them in the plastic. Then spray paint it black. You will have the outline of what ever you want...such as the screaming chicken. Then you will need a bright light to mount inside. I never attempted to do this. I do have an extra centerpiece that I was thinking about doing this to. It might be cool to even connect it to your brake lights. Either way, you could always just get a neon and mount it inside and just run a target switch on your console. I never attempted to do this, but I was thinking about it. If you do it, let me know. What ever you do, dont carve it, you will end up ruining it. Go to a junk yard and just get any center piece you can find just to see how it comes out. I have a GTA centerpiece, and one from an '86 TA. I dont want to ruin the GTA one, so I will probably attempt to do this myself once school is out.

Well, whatever I do, it will still need to be lit somehow. Does anyone have any wireing suggestions? I also need some light ideas. What size should I use? I don't want it getting too hot.
