I don't get it

When my friends wire somthing w/ electical tape they have a nice and smooth job, but when i do it, i get a mass of tape, and when i go to tear it i get a really wavy and crappy looking peice of tape.

Any help would be appreciated

Use shrink tubing. Looks better than the best taped wire possible.

Other than that the trick to tearing the tape is to ****** it real quick. It sort of acts like silly putty: if you pull it slowly it stretches into a big mess, but quickly and it just snaps in the middle like it was brittle.

Do a line splice with solder and shrink tubing. If it's important enough to do, you might as well do it well. You'll never have trouble with a sealed and soldered splice.
