OK I swapped a 89 TPI harness for the 85 TPI harness I swapped the sensors and whole nine.But the fuel pump just won't kick what is related to the fuel pump on the harness and does anybody have the 89 TPI schematic.Any kind of tests I should do Also what is the best shop manual and where do you get it. I have the chilton and the hyanes just wondering if there was anything better. Thanks guys

 

It may be related to VATS it shuts down the pump if it thinks it dosent have the proper signal

Did you check the relay on the firewall or the fuse buy the battery,hope this will help.

 

I put a brand new relay in and the fuse on the fender wall is fine. The oil pressure switch is brand new as well. I jumped the pump from a hot and a cold wire and it turns on fine. Now if anybody could tell me more about the VATS system it would be most appreciative. Also the harness is out of a 89 GTA 350 the car still has the 305 would the relays be different. Thanks for any help that everyone has given.

 

the relays where changed due to a recall !!
if u car is a 87 upgrade to the new relays..
If the car wouldn´t start u should check the vats sys. ! all 89 gta had that sys.! 87 models didnt! what kind of ECM and chip are u using? the best manual is original ..HELM!
they are around 60$ and that is what u need if u work deeper ...lots of diag help and the right tables for elektronics! u cant compare this book to chily or hanes mauric those books are for grand daddys..lol

Where can you find the Helms manual and what is VATS system I have heard of it before but don't have clue what it is can anyone please go deeper inthe subject. Thanks

 

There are 3 wires running into the tank, how can I tell the difference which one is which???

 

Its not the VATS, the vats will shut down the starter and injector pulse but the pump will still run.
