Is there a DIY'er way to get 18v from 12?
I just got a used laptop that runs on 18v. Would it be feasable to even consider a homebrew step up converter? Or should I come off the coin for an adapter?

You could run a 6 volt battery in series with the 12 volt output from the cig lighter for a total of approx 18 volts.....
