My car wont crank but all my accessories work just fine. I put my remote starter switch on the starter terminals but I just hear a click when I hit the switch. What does this mean? Is my solenoid shot? Does this sound like an ignition switch failure? I have a whole new starter that I could swap in but I have never done an ignition switch. Is it hard?

 

When you turn the key do the acc. dim?
What year car is it? Could it be the vats?
Although the vats won't let it click.
i had the same problem and it was my starter.

 

My car is an 83 Trans Am. I dont know anything about VATS. Do I even have it? Would you say it is my starter? My accesories don't really dim but my voltage gauge drops a bit on cranking and goes back up when I let off.

 

If you hooked up a remote starter switch DIRECTLY to your starter, and nothing happened, then your starter is definitely bad. Even if your VATS, ignition switch, etc, is bad, your car should of still attempted to crank.
