Electrical Gremlins?

Today I was charging my battery that died after i left the dome light on all night and when the charger was reading a full charge, something very strang happened. I turned the key and absolutely nothing happened. The starter didn't even click. The weird part is that all my accessories work perfectly. My lights are bright, my window and lock motors work like a charm but nothing happens when i turn the key. Any ideas? thanks guys.

It is probably a faulty ignition switch.

I doubt it was the ignition switch because the car always started on the first or second try until now. But if it is the igniton switch, is it hard to replace? I will be putting a new column in soon so could I do it then? How much should it cost me?

I'd look into the alarm (if you have one) or the VATS issue.

I had a similar problem that happened when I shorted my battery to the chassis by mistake. After that, the key wouldn't do a thing. Everything else in the car worked, but when I turned the key, nothing. Not even a click.

I ended up fixing it by bypassing the VATS key resistor.
Check out This ThirdGen Article for details on how to test for it.

Good luck,

Thomas

Im having similar trouble, yet mine has been progressing. it started out with the starter ticking every now and then, then it wouldnt start at all, unless you maybe let it sit for a day or two, I hear the clicking of the relay under the dash, so does that mean, that the vats isnt effecting my car, if that part is getting the power, its like its not getting from that relay to the starter, for the full story look here
