What is the voltage with the car running at idle?
What is it with the engine at ~1500 or more RPM?
What is it after the battery has been charged (after having started the car), say after about 10 minutes?
I know you said the alternator/battery were tested, but maybe the output of the alternator is not getting to the battery properly for some reason. I am thinking this because you said that the battery (with the car off) would last longer another ground cable was added. That, to me would indicate that the alternator would be able to charge the battery better (due to a poor ground soemwhere?), and thus have more capacity, or have a longer discharge time.
But having a better ground with the engine off (alternator not charging) could only increase the current drain, or shorten the time before it goes bad, but you said adding another ground made the battery last longer. Having a poorer ground (with the engine off) would make the battery last longer due to the increased resistance and thus less current drain.

Mr. Burnout from outer space,
So does that mean that you have not measured the current draw of the batter while the car is off?
I described several methods in the above post.
If you do that, I think you'll be well on the way to solving your problem.
But then again what does this bumbling fool (me) know.

Try taking the hot lead off of the altinator, and see if the car dies then.
Or better yet... hook up your volt meter to the battery and the start unhooking power wire from different locations (alt, starter, fuses) and check the voltage everytime you unhook something.... if your batt dies that quick there should be a huge drain on the batt, and when you find it, the batt voltage should go up a little. ( 11.5 to 12.5 or something like that)
