Berlinetta dash removal

I just purchased a new digital dash for my berlinetta, cause my old one was shot. Now, I can't get the old one out. Do I have to remove my steering wheel or column? I hope not, but I guess it is worth the work. Thanks

After removing the lower trim panels, loosen the two nuts that hold the steering column up & the bolts that hold the dash down & remove the tilt lever & you will be able to pull the cluster out, after removing its retaining screws.

You don't have to remove your stering colum.
All you have to do is remove all bolts that attach the gauge cluster to the dash. When you get all the bolts removed you have to disconect the speed cable from the back of the speedometer. It will be a real b h to get the cable off,but it will be eaiser than removing the stering colum.I've pulled many gauge clusters for my friends in less than ten minutes, which is alot quicker than taking out the stering colum. Hope I helped out.

Ok, thanks alot. I have everything disconnected, but just couln't figure out how to get it over the wheel. I have a Haynes manual, but it dosent cover the Berlinetta dashes, because they are all that digital crap, also thanks 85sportcoupe...., but this dash dosent have a normal speedo, it is electric so I have to remove a plug down at the bottom of the dash, but that does help me get the dash out of my other car. Thanks everyone.

The '84 - '86 Berlinettas do not have a speedometer cable, as they use an electronic VSS, and the digital clusters are larger than the analog clusters, so partially dropping the column (not removing the column) is necessary for the cluster to clear it and the steering wheel.
