installing switches... how hard??

installing switches... how hard??
well when i bought my 86 IROc it came with 1 of those roof milage counter things... well i want to rip that out and put some switched up there *ie, fan, fuel pump, ect..* how hard will that be to do.. and any other ideas of what things i should make the switches hook up too?
