cold car performance
cold car performance
my car runs really fast when it is cold. I'm talking at least 30 horsepower more than when hot. I hooked the fan up full time. This has made a small difference, maybe 10 horsies. Isn't the car running in "open loop" or something when it is cold? Is there a way to keep it running like that? maybe a computer chip? If so, will this kill my gas milage? Also I believe my oxygen sensor is bad. I get a ses light on hot days on the freeway. If I change the oxygen sensor can I expect any hosepower gains? one more thing. can you adjust the timing on a tbi car? or is that controled by the computer? any info would be great. I don't have alot of cash for big mods, so I'm trying to get the most out of what I have. thanks

I just posted a similar question about the cold start power we are feeling. I was told it can be rigged up to a switch to make your car perform like it does when cold by tricking the computer into thinking it is always cold. I just heard about this though so I know nothing else about it.

that would be sweet. I am gonna take it to the track and test the difference in two weeks. hopefully it will be cool out and ice on the intake will do the trick in cooling it so it runs like that. I'm not gonna pull any numbers out of my a$$ but I think it is gonna really suprise some people if I can take it down the track cold.. If you can find where you read that about the switch, I'll owe ya big.........later
