wipers won't stop!
wipers won't stop!
I just bought an 84 camaro berlinetta and will be restoring it. It has a 2.8 in it and I will be adding a 350 from a 68 camaro, rebuilding the trans, body work, and cleaning up the interior. Anyway, I just jumped the battery to see what worked electronically (the car sat for about a year prior to me buying it) and I hit the wiper button. Well, the wipers work fine, but I can't get them to stop. What do I do? Thanks for the help, I will be asking many questions most likeley.

While the car is powered up and the wipers are running, press the Mist/Off button HARD for about 2-3 seconds. Repeat it if it doesn't work the first time. If the wipers are stil running after that,..... press the button hard and "wiggle" it a little while pushing for a few seconds. If that did not work either, try pressing in & up at the same time,...... then Up and down at the same time.
The Mist/Off button is notoriously slow to respond. Your problem could simply be the result of corroded terminals inside the pod (clean with a pen eraser) of a damaged internal contact in the pod.
There could also be a problem inside your wiper motor...... I just tested one last week that would not stop working and my dash buttons are fine. if it is the wiper motor that is at fault than the bug is in the wiper motor "Cover".
If you do manage to get the wipers to stop working - push the Mist/Off button and see if you can get the wipers to make the single "mist" sweep. If the contacts inside the pod are the problem than you can practice which way to push the button in order to get the best response from the thing !
Good luck with your new ride !

Chris; He hasn't posted on this site for 12 years,.... I doubt he'll be updating the thread anytime soon.
I'll tell you this; his solution would be limited to ONLY Digital Berlinetta cars.
