altenador problems help please?

I have no idea what is wrong? I have gone throught about 6 altenadors all of them charge fine from anywhere between 5 min to 3 days then the voltage drops low! I have checked all my wiring and found no mistake.
Please help,
Bryan

Are you using rebuilt alternators or brand new ones?

There has to be something wrong with your wiring, as alternators dont fail that often for no reason.

These are all remanufactured altenadors, I have checked all of the wiring and I can't find any flaw. The voltage regulator had a chip in the side of it about a 1/4" long so I but a new one on and I'm gonna give that a try.
thanks,
Bryan

The rebuilt alts are probably your problem. Rebuilt alt quality is a Huge gamble and the quality usually stinks. I hope you got a warrenty and get'em replaced for free when they go out. If no warrenty - then go buy a new unit, not a remanufactured one. If still under warrenty - then keep taking it back and getting another one - eventually you'll get one that will last a couple years. This has been my experience.

Have you checked, charged and/or replaced your battery each time? If you replace an alternator with a dead battery still in the car the alternator will attempt to charge the battery and fry the alternator. Rebuilds are suspect, but not at the rate you are experiencing.
