90RS Have a stock rev limiter?
I've got a 90RS that doesn't seem to want to turn anymore than 5k rpm in any gear. I put a 350 in it with the original heads, intake, and throttle body. The motor was in a truck of my brothers, and I thought he had it to at least 6-7k rpm. Anyway, does the stock computer have a rev limiter to keep the motor from turning any faster, regardless of what the motor is capable of? If so what can be done to eliminate this (specifically).

The stock computer has a 10,000 RPM rev limiter. Those with chip burning abilities (such as me) can set these lower to figures like 5k,6k or 7k. If the engine wont turn over 5k you probably have some sort of timing advance problem. Does this happen only under load or also when u're at idle ? Does it have an MSD box with rev limiter installed ? When it reaches 5k does it just not want to pull anymore or do the RPM bounce up and down like most of the imports do ? hehe

The ignition is stock for now. At idle it'll rev beyond 5k but when accelerating it hits 5k then just quits pulling. It doesn't really cut out or anything. I've never tried just holding it to the floor to see how far it will push, I usually just shift. It has stock 2:73 gears and whatever the stock five speed is. I thought maybe the gears wouldn't allow to turn any faster but their only stock. Is this normal? I'm not sure if the timing is right on. I've played around with it to see where it runs the best.

Well I guess that could explain it. Just another reason to upgrade to tpi, or kiss gas mileage good bye and put a high rise with a big carb on it. That or bolt on a blower, but then theres that whole lack of money thing that gets ya every time.

If you have a auto trans then adjust the TV cable so your transmission will shift higher.
