Please help w/ shift light!

I have a Proform shift light I'm trying to install and have a couple questions. The instructions say RED=12V ignition switch, Black=good engine ground, Green=Tach terminal(for GM, HEI, MSD) or to coil negative (for standard ignition).
Where is the best/easiest place for my RED wire and where the heck does the green wire actually go? I didn't know we had a "tach terminal" on our cars. Can someone please fill me in.
Thanks

Need to know whether you have an internal cap coil HEI ignition or an external coil ignition or a regular old coil and a traditional ignition.

the green wire on you light goes to the white wire on your coil.

Run the red wire to the ACC plug on the fuse block...And the green should go to the plug on the distributor...My distributor has it labeled faintly...Or the negative side of the coil

use something called a fuse tap which will slip over one of the contacts of the acess. fuse and there is your 12 volt ignition source.

Make sure it's the fused side of the fuse and not the feed side.

You can find out which is which by touching each terminal with a test light and the fuse removed (key on). Whichever one doesn't light is the side you tap.
