Troubles w/ MAF need lots of help!
Troubles w/ MAF need lots of help!
I own a 85 Trans Am 305 TPI. My MAF has Pi$$ed me off for the last time. I got a new one back in march which left my wallet bare for a while and now its starting to act up. After driving for about 10 min and say stop at a red light, in about 10-15 seconds the engine light will come on with the code 34 and the car will idle from about 400 to 600 RPM and run really rough on the acceleration. If anyone can offer help I would be relieved from that piece of crap sensor.
P.S is it possible to switch from a MAF to a MAP setup?

Did you modify the MAF sensor, by removing the screens?
Since you say you have an '85, are you sure that the burnoff module is functioning properly? If not, the hotwire will slowly get gunked up and eventually perform poorly.
Converting from MAF to MAP can be done, and isn't terribly difficult (I'm preparing to do the same mod myself). Please see Mike Davis' website at http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/ecm_swap_730/ for more information on this upgrade.
