Wiring a flow gate type thing

I would like to wire a switch that would control flow of liquid to exit out either one source or another. IE I push a button and the pump pumps fluid out one hose. Then I flip a switch and the pump pumps fluid out a different hose. So, in my crude diagram I would turn on the pump (winshield washer fluid pump) with the switch up and it would pump the fluid to the windshield washers. With the switch down it would pump the fluid to a different hose. Simple enough right? Could you give me any part numbers for the gate/solenoid thingy? A diagram perhaps? thanks

It's actually quite a simple design.....But, what and how much "liquid" are you wanting to flow? You'd basically be using an electric-operated gate valve. Don't know if they'd make one for your application. I've done a lot electrical and plumbing, so if you could get me a little more detail on what your planning, I'm sure I could help you out.

It would need to flow whatever the windsheild wiper fluid pump could throw at it, so the lines would only be about 1/4". It would be flowing windsheild washer fluid/water.

a solonoid operated diverting valve --> trucks with two fuel tanks have them, you could do your project with GM parts

wow, I never would have thought of that, thanks. You wouldn't happen to have a part number laying around would ya?

Thanks A Lot!

actually, I'm making my car so that I can squirt water out the front of it! So when people walk by, I can just hit a button and squirt them.

I'm serious...do you think an anemic 305 really needs water injection?

lol, you're a freakin nut! It might be easier to get a seperate water pump and run a water line to it. I bet yuo can pick up a washer fluid pump from a junkyard for next to nuthin and use that. Make sure you have an aiming device so you can aim for the female white t-shirt wearing "victims"
