removing cruise control wiring

The cruise control doesn't work on my 83 Trans Am. I am in the process of removing it. Under the dash, there appears to be one wire that goes to the fuse box. This is the last connection i have to remove. Can I just cut the wire and tape it off or do i need to do something special? TIA.
