What kind of signal does the VSS use? Pulse? I was just thinking about how to bypass the speed limiter without loosing the speedo. If the VSS sensor sends out a pulse it could be possible to use a chip to devide the pulse by two to gat a halved reading making it possible to get a reading even at higher speeds and still get a reading of it. Therefor if you have a 115 speedo (like me ) you could get reading upto 230 mph (368 km/h to us europeans) Idias?

 

That would work - I believe that the VSS signal to the ECM from the VSS buffer in cable driven speedo systems, is a 0 - 12 volt 4000 pulse per mile signal. With an electronic VSS setup (non cable driven speedo), where the VSS buffer is built into the ECM, the magnetic pickup signal generated @ the VSS would have to be intercepted & regenerated to do the divide function before the ECM saw the signal. It would probably be easier to change the PROM code to defeat the speed limiter function.
