Hello could someone help me with a tune up. What is the best method for removing stubborn wires that don't want to come off. Next what is the best tool for removing the spark plugs. Finally what is the exact method for setting the timing. Thanks so much for everyones help. Aaron

well i simply use my hands to remove plug wires, grab by the boot close to the plug twist and pull. normally that works well but i had a set of cheapa$$ accel wires that pulled apart, cheap ****. so now i have bosch again, allot better at staying together.

I simply use a spark plug socket no problem as long as you dont have headers yet, if you have headers you may need to trim the socket down to fit with the headers still on. and setting timing is easy, unplug the spark advance connection hook up your timing light and read the timing at the damper then adjust as needed. stock is 6 degrees but i run 10 now, ran 8 for like a year.

Do you start the car first then unhook the wire, set the timing and then rehook the wire up while it is still running?

you can unhook the wire before you start the car or after it is started that part doesnt matter, but you will have to turn the car off and back on when you reconnect it to get the ecm to kick in its advance again.

so hook up your light, set the timing and then turn the car off hook the wire back up and restart for your test drive.

I have Edelbrock headers and I find that using a spark plug socket and putting a wrench on the flats on the end of it make changing spark plugs a whole lot easier.
