I have a 84 trans am with the 5 speed manual. My problem is that i drive down the road and all of sudden my engien dies. Like theres no power to the coil and the starter wont crank over at all. the power accessories wont work, but I'd still have headlights and dome light. And about after sitting for 10-15 minutes.. the car will all of sudden work again like nothing happend.

This has happen occassionly and has gotten worse. Now I have nothing at all. But I got the car to run fire/crank by hotwiring the ignition coil. I simply had a wire from the batter to the HEI hot wire. Everything works that way, and wont shut off when i turn it off that way.

Any idea what my problem is ? I tried replacing the ignition switch on the steering coloum(the one mounted ontop). All grounds seem fine.

Also I have scrapped the ECU and went non computer controlled carbuator/distbuator.
