High-beams don't work...

When I pull the lever to turn on my brights, nothing happens.

I'm thinking something's wrong with the switch itself because it doesn't click or anything when I pull it.

I'm having almost the same problem, except mines stuck on high beams... I'm sure all the other cars love to see me coming their direction at night. =\ Also, no clicky either.

I vote that we adjust the dimmer switch position, since the 15-year old rod actuator is probably just a little worn.

The switch is mounted on top of the outer jacket of the steering column, right in the driver's footwell. Just loosen the screws and slide the switch upward farther, snug the screws and try it. Another way may work if the linkage is only slightly worn - lower the tilt column to it's lowest position and try to dim the lights again. If the switch operates then (listen for the "click"), your linkage needs adjustment. The lowest position seems to help take up some of the slack in the mechanism.

The drawing shows the location. Look at items 77 and 83:

I had the same problem. What I did is, lower the steering column just a little (maybe 1/2 inch) and felt around for the dimmer switch. Turns out that there is a wire connector that sometimes comes in contact with the dimmer switch and stops the lever from fully engaging the switch. I just moved some wires around and made sure that when I put it back up nothing was in the way. Have not had any problems with it since. Just my .02 cents worth, but I hope it help at least one of you. T

LOL........ Mine is completly opposite.

It won't work if its all the way down, I have to tilt it up a notch.

ya know, ...now that i didnt think about it, and someone else mentioned it, im gonna go move those wires around, that seems to be my exact problem. it wont click unless ALL the way down, ....good call.......however i drive with my steering wheel all the way down so there isnt really a problem.
