The speedometer isnt working in my 86 Trans Am, w/140mph speedo. The odometer and trip odometer are not working either. All the other gauges work fine. Does this sound like a defective gauge cluster, or is this mnost likely something VSS related? TIA.

 

Not sure if a 86 is like my 92, but the same thing happened to it, if the speed sensor is bad it should throw a code and cause the check engine light to come on, the computer on my car was still receiving a signal from the speed sensor so it didn't throw a code, it turned out that the speedo was bad, I got another one from a wreaking yard for $50.00 and that fixed it.
