ok, couple questions, my haynes manual for my 91 camaro rs got destroyed with some severe water damage so i'll just ask you all. anyways, my headlight/dimmer switch has been broken for some time now and now my little pull out headlight on/off switch is acting up.... sometimes i can't push it in to turn my lights off without punching it like 3 or 4 times before it'll respond and my lights will turn off. i happen to have a couple conventional on-off flip switches that i figured i'll just wire in by cutting in the wires under the dash and save myself the hassle of buying the normal camaro switch for headlight on-off and the dimmer switch.... i plan on having one switch to turn the dim lights on-off and one for the brights on-off... the question is, which wires do i need to cut into? does anyone have a good wiring diagram they could post up on here that i could check out? thank you.

 

The last time I bough one of those type switches it was less than $20. It's probably the cheapest and easiet way to fix the problem.

 

Like Vader said they are cheap, but the switch is not your problem. All it is, is the little plastic collar that holds the switch to this plastic backing plate behind the ****. Take the Torx screws out to remove the switch, you will see what I am talking about. Also, is your **** pretty loose feeling? If it is, then this is your problem.

And, if you want, I have a switch that I dug out of a junk car to fix this very problem that I will sell you. I thought the same thing, "my switch has to be broke", but it wasnt, I just didnt look first. Also, the headlight switch is a PITA to get out, have to remove the whole gauge cluster, etc. So now I have a headlight switch (with no plastic collar BTW) just laying around somewhere.

my dash (91) doesnt have torxscrews around the headlight switch.... whats the trick on gettin it out?
