Removing HVAC controls...

I'm trying to remove my HVAC controls, and I can't figure out how to remove the solid metal wire that is connected to the bottom of the assembly that is attatched to the hot/cold slider switch. I'm afraid I'm going to damage it... can anyone help me out?

FyreLance, there is a metal washer holding the end of the wire to the metal point on the bottom of your controls. You will need to remove this press washer ( i don't know correct term) with a pair of needlenose pliers/wide blade screw-driver being careful not to damage anything.
This may have not been the best description, but it should get you in the right direction!

I doubt I'm remember this correctly but, when I swapped out the HVAC controls on my camaro, the hot/cold cable was held by a retainer 'clip' on the bottom side and the end of the cable was hooked into the hot/cold selector arm. Unclamping the cable and a little twisting frees the cable from the controls. That may be completely wrong but, it's the way I remember it...
