Various Car alarm Install Qs
I have figured out almost all I need to get the alarm installed, but I still have a few unknowns, so hopefully someone can help me out:
Avital Model 2200 is the alarm:
1. Is the door lock system a Positve Polarity system, a reversing polarity system, or a negaive polarity system?
2. For the horn, is it positive or negative circuit? Also, hte alarm book says it cannot supply any more than 200ma, if I splice into the black wire at the base of the steering column is that low current?
3. There is an auxilary harness for some progressive locking mechanism, can I just skip this and just have lock and unlock do both doors?
4. Does the parking light circuit pull more than 10amps? Also, I need to set the alarm to output 12V correct?
I hope this is all for now, I am gonna atempt the install tommorow morning or late night after work.
THanks, CHris

-thirdgens use a postive trigger door lock system
-the horn wire at the base of the steering column is low current sense wire which controls the horn relay, so it should draw less than 200ma.
-thirdgens do not have "progressive door locks". you can retrofit this feature, but you'll need an additional spdt relay.
-the parking light circuit are a positive trigger circuit and should draw less than 10 amps
a thirdgen alarm & remote start install guide is avaliable here:
