84 Electrical Problems

ok i am new to this site and let me tell you that at this point and time i think i want to blow my camaro up. i have a slight problem with my gauges. one day the tach, volt meter, fuel and temp gauges all went out at the same time. the tach came back but it now starts at 4500 rpm and when you put the cruise control on or put the passenger window down it jumps around. i pulled the dash apart and found that in the on position all three of the pink and black wires for the guages are dead. i don't know what to do anymore. any clues?

I have an 86 IROC and it has a fuse in the fuse panel for the gauges, i dont know if the same holds true for 84, but you might wanna try there first if you havent already.

I checked all the fuses first and then i went in a took apart the dash to see if it was the connection between the circuit board and the plugs but that was fine. i think i am getting interference from the ignition wire since it seems to be jumping whenever i turn on the fan which is now wired into the ignition wire. i have tried just about everything and i think that the last thing is to go in and pull the wiring harness apart and start tracing to see where the interference is coming from. i was just seeing if anyone else had had this problem.

It definitly sounds like a ground to me.
Check the ground connections under the hood.I noticed the engine swap in your sig, maybe something got pinched and finnaly grounded out.
Maybe between the block and the firewall.
Also try doing a search, maybe something will come up that sounds similar.
