ok guys i have a 92 RS with the T5, when i shift into reverse my backup lights stay off, i replaced the bulbs and the fuse that said Turn b/u. is there a switch on the tranny that i need to check or somthing?

open your shifter plate up, there's a switch on the shifter - if it ain't in the right position, they won't work. maybe it's just loose, that's what was wrong with mine...

The reverse switch for a T5 is on the drivers side of the trans case with a blue & a green wire on it. I believe you're thinking of an auto shifter thunder.
is it like a big black box with an arrow pointing to the nose of the car? a couple inches behind the shifter or is it under the rubber shift boot, i have the consol all out and theres wires for the E brake, 2 going to the black box, and then 2 for my hatch switch

cris.. a T5 tranny (standard shift) has no wiring on the shifter. Taking apart your console will net you no progress to your problem unless you have an automatic.

well i had the consol out because im wireing power windows and locks and puttng the controls on the consol, so it wasnt a big deal that i had it out- now i know exactly where your talking about, i was looking at that asking my boss what that switch was with those wires running to it last week when we had the car on the lift, my tranny was making noise and we found out it wasbecause the guy who changed the clutch befor i had it only put 2 bolts back on and didnt tighten them- 2 bolts and an hour later it was running great, well thanks for your help- ill go to the shop tomorrow and see what i can do about that switch
