Fuse Keeps BLowing Need help
The other day my ACC fuse went and every time i would put a new fuse in it would keep blowing. So the othernight i went to see what was going on and i pulled my dash off since before the problem my radar dector was randomly turning on and off and sure enigh the POS and Neg wires that go to the back of the CIG lighter were melted. So i made sure none of them were touching and put a new fuse in it blew again. So i disconnected the ground for the Cig at the body and put the new fuse in and it was fine then i slightly tapped the ground wire and the fuse blew. Any idea what is causing this and how do i get to the wires behind the dash or do i have to pull the whole thing?

Both wires for the Lighter were off the lighter wasent even hooked up the ground was cut so it was just a wire that went no were and the POS was also melted but When i moved the Ground wire to tuck it away the fuse blew again. I had wires that were melted onto both the positive and neg wire and i took thoe off. You should see the fuse from when it went the fuse didnt blow it just melted in the socket i was driving and saw smoke comming out of my dash wasent very fun.

You obviously have a short whose circuit becomes complete when a live 12v wire shorts to a ground point. You don't have to pull the entire dash apart to fix such a problem but you will have to follow some wiring runs and verify its condition.
Make certain that a previous owner didn't leave behind some open wires hanging under your dash as these are very common to cause problems such as yours. (Hacked up installs/removals of radios, car starters, alarms, fog lights etc..) Look for tapped in wiring to your ACC circuit and you should be able to find your short.
good luck

I just fixed a wire chafing problem in that same circuit. It had been driving me crazy and I went through two packs of fuses before I figured it out. Turns out that there was a wire bundle kind of pinched in between the fuse block itself and the body of the car. It was a bundle of wires about 1" -1.5" thick covered in tape. A sheet metal edge had worn through the tape and the insulation on one of the wires, making the fuse blow whenever it shorted out there. It's a long shot, but check that area and others for things like that. It amazed me. I got lucky finding that one.
