new alternator 100amp, 140amp, 180amp????
I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a new alternator.
What amp rated alternator should I purchase, 100, 140 180???
Living in California there are times when I have the AC running, lights on..stereo blaring and of course this all happening in stop and go traffic.
Keep in mind the motor, accessories in my signature line....
All advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Unless you have unusually high current demand, a 105 should be more than adequate. Couple of things to keep in mind. Higher output alt will generate LESS output at idle or low rpms. Also a high output alt will reduce the life of the battery due to it's extremely high charging current. if you want to go to a 140, there is a company www.alternatorparts.com that had brand new GM 140 amp units(not rebuilt) for under $200. That is the unit that came on the BC4 police package and it's a good unit. Considering a GM reman 105 is going for close to $300 from a dealer it's a bargain. Stay away from the chain retailers claiming lifetime warranties, they are junk anymore.

300?!?!?!? Man you are being robbed. The dealer near me only hit me for like 150 and that was with the core, for a reman 105 amp. Think you should go to GMpartsdirect.com, save a few bux.
ac delco reman is like 89 bucks, I'm pretty sure its all new internals but they have to call it a remanufactured unit because it uses the old housing...
theres my opinion, I live in a valley in california (95+ 3+months) with all new ac equipment stereo (45wx4, 60x2 for bass, I dont have a huge setup) and my reman 105 alt has been doing great... I had a lot of weird problems with local parts branded reman alts...
