New idea for wiring behind the heads...
I bet somebody has thought of this before (so probably not all that "new"), but anyway...
After dropping my engine back into my car a couple of times, I find that one of the parts I like the least is having to attach the wires behind the heads (the passenger's side, specifically). I was wondering: would there be anything wrong with making some terminal that I could attach to the head while the engine is out, and then once the engine is in, simply connect the terminal off of the head to the wires that go into the harness?
My dad recommended against this practice saying that I might not get that good of a connection. I'm not even sure what the two wires that come out of the harness there even do or how critical they are. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it.
Of course, that's not including the ground strap that also bolts on to the back of the passenger's side head. I wonder if there's an easier place to bolt that into as well...
I guess I'm just trying to find a way to make this easier--it's damn near impossible for me to fit my hand behind those heads to get any work done.
Thanks
BTW -- This is off of my experience with the L98 in my '89 IROC... you "carb people" probably don't share the same frustrations in this regard.

The problem is just as bad with carb cars. I've found it helps to attach the wires while the engine is still kind of hanging, then after the wires are attached, put the motor the rest of the way in. That may or may not work, depending on how much extra length you have in your wires.

You could splice in a molex plug or some sort of harness plug off another type car (I'd say an import would be a better donor).
